The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts Announces Once-a-year Visual Arts and Songwriting Contest Winners

NEW ORLEANS (press launch) – The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts (GRFA) introduced nowadays the winners of its annual visual artwork and songwriting contests, awarding 13 higher college juniors and seniors from across Louisiana with $25,000 in university scholarships (winners outlined under). The 2022 contest topic was “Louisiana’s Culinary Heritage,” which inspired learners to build a work of artwork or music representing our state’s exclusive culinary heritage when honoring its festivals, dishes, cooks and nearby ingredients.

This calendar year, in addition to acquiring college or university scholarships, contest winners will also have their artwork and/or track lyrics highlighted in GRFA’s second cookbook, The Pot and the Palette Cookbook II. The cookbook will feature recipes from Louisiana chefs, alongside illustrations from Louisiana significant faculty juniors and seniors. The Pot and the Palette Cookbook II will debut in Drop 2022.

“We are so impressed with the excellent of the operate – equally art and track – that the learners have established for this year’s contests,” explained Jacques Rodrigue, Executive Director of GRFA. “We are thrilled to not only award these college students school scholarships but give them the prospect to be featured in our new cookbook The Pot and the Palette Cookbook II. These amazing artworks and tunes, mixed with recipes from Louisiana’s good cooks are a amazing representation of ‘Louisiana’s Culinary Heritage,’ and we simply cannot wait around to share the new cookbook with everyone.”

Songwriting Contest Winners: A panel of superstar judges, together with Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, Aaron Wilkinson (Honey Island Swamp Band), Marc Broussard, Mikayla Bruan, Hans Williams, Maggie Koerner, Ashley Shabankareh, Juan Pardo, George Wilde, and Lindsey Candler chosen three finalists to share $6,000 in faculty scholarships. “We are so grateful to operate with our close friends at the Rodrigue Basis on this vital initiative that supports creative expression among the youth in Louisiana,” stated Bill Taylor, Govt Director of the Trombone Shorty Basis. “Every calendar year we are blown absent by the inspiration exhibited in the songwriting submissions, and this 12 months is no exception. Visual Art Contest Winners: Contest judges picked the down below 10 finalists to share $19,000 in university scholarships. Individual visible artwork was judged on concept/layout, specialized talent and creativity.
