Information about James Meredith

All throughout history, there are a number of people that have been able to make very significant contributions to different communities and because of that, they are considered to be some of the most important heroes. A number of the people were able to transform the world through business while others through politics and leadership but in addition, there are others who are human rights activists. One of the biggest civil rights activists in the world that was able to create history was known as James Meredith and he was an African-American. According to sources, this was the first African-American that was able to attend the University of Mississippi. Born in 1933, James Meredith was brought up together with other siblings on a farm and that was the childhood. James Meredith was able to attend a military high school after he was able to grow up. After this, it is also recorded that the man was able to attend a college that was all black. James Meredith became heavily involved in politics after being able to achieve his law degree from the University.

James Meredith stays in the Jackson Mississippi region and he continues with civil rights activists. There was a lot of racism in the United States at the time when James Meredith was a child but he was insulated from the same because he lived on a farm land. The first encounter of racism that James Meredith got was when he was riding on a train that was coming from Chicago. The incident involved him being told to move to the back of the train when they reached Memphis Tennessee. Up to the destination that they were going to, James Meredith and the brother had to stand together with many other black people that were the back of the train. The fair treatment of the African-Americans became his priority because of this incident and this considered to be the life-changing experience.

When the registrar realized that James Meredith was an African-American, his admission into the University of Mississippi was revoked and this is one of the biggest challenges. While protecting this decision, James Meredith had the case move up to the Supreme Court and this is when finally, he was able to get the ruling in his favor. In addition to his personal life, the commitment to the cause that you took and that is civil rights and politics has always been consistent all throughout the years.
